Does the hotel have a car park?
We have complimentary parking for hotel residents. The car park entrance is located on Magpie Lane to the rear of the hotel, accessed through Merton Street, off the High Street. Additional information on accessing the car park can be found on our location page here.
We have four EV charging points in our car park, charges will apply via the monta.com app (download the app here). We advise guests to bring their own charging cables.
How far is your hotel from the City Centre?
The Old Bank is located right in the heart of Oxford City Centre, on the High Street.
What time is check out & check-in?
We politely request that you check out of your room by 11 am. Late departures may be arranged at our discretion, dependent upon room availability. Check-in is any time from 3 pm.
Is the Old Bank a non-smoking hotel?
Yes, every room and public areas inside the hotel is non-smoking.
Which rooms in the hotel have the best views?
Our front facing rooms overlook Oxford High Street, the heart of the City, with St Mary’s Church opposite and the very picturesque Radcliffe Square and Radcliffe Camera beyond. Our upper rear facing rooms have stunning views of Merton College.
Do you have complimentary Wi-Fi?
Yes, all rooms come with complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi.
What categories of rooms does the hotel have?
We have classic double rooms, deluxe rooms, superior deluxe rooms, junior suite, suite and an accessible room on the ground floor.
Do you have an accessible room?
Yes, we do. Our accessible deluxe room is located on the ground floor of the hotel, overlooking our beautiful Italian garden terrace.
Do you have a gym in the hotel?
Unfortunately we don’t have a gym, however, there are some located close by. If you prefer running we can suggest some lovely routes, one of which is through Christ Church meadow located just a couple of minutes away.
Are there tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms?
All of our hotel rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, plus a selection of our higher room categories offer Nespresso machines.
Do your hotel rooms have baths?
The majority of our Deluxe Rooms and most higher room categories offer bath and shower. Some with a shower over the bath, others with a separate walk-in shower.
How far are you from Oxford train station/ Gloucester Green bus station?
We are approximately 15 minutes’ walk from the train station and about 10 minutes’ walk from Gloucester Green bus station. Taxis are readily available both to and from each station.
Are you close to Oxford University?
Being right in the City Centre There are numerous Colleges close by. The nearest being Christ Church, Merton, and Corpus Christi located just behind us on Merton Street. And All Souls, University and Queen’s are on the High Street just outside our front door.
Do you offer discounts to Oxford Alumni card-holders?
We do, yes. Oxford Alumni Card-holders benefit from a 10% discount off the best available rate for accommodation from Sunday – Thursday. On Friday and Saturday nights, alumni will be offered the best available rate at the time of booking. The discount only applies to the room in which the alumni member is staying. Discounts are available on a room-only basis (food and drink are not included). Alumni discounts are only applicable to bookings made directly with the hotel by telephone or email so please provide your alumni number at the time of booking.
How many hotel rooms do you have?
We have 43 rooms in total at the Old Bank. Our sister hotel, the Old Parsonage, located very close by, has 35 rooms.
Can you arrange transport to and from Heathrow/Gatwick airport?
We are happy to arrange chauffeur services or taxis for airport transfers. There are regular coach services to and from Oxford, 24 hours a day, the stops for which are just a 2-minute walk.
Are taxis readily available?
Yes, can be ordered at Reception in advance and/or usually arrive within 10 minutes of booking.
Do we pay for accommodation when we book?
All reservations must be guaranteed by a valid credit card at the time of booking. The full cost of your accommodation will be debited 48 hours prior to arrival (from 6th May the full cost of your accommodation will be taken on arrival), with incidental costs (restaurant bills, laundry, mini-bar usage, etc.) to be paid on departure. The card provided will be charged for any outstanding charges, following departure.
What is your cancellation policy, and does this differ for long stay or group bookings?
For all bedroom categories, apart from ‘Room 1’, we have a 48-hour cancellation policy; reservations must be cancelled or amended by 3 pm GMT two days prior to your arrival, in order to avoid a cancellation charge. This does differ for long stay reservations, and group reservations are reviewed case by case. Further details can be found on our terms & conditions page.
Do we need to reserve hotel bicycles?
Bicycles are readily available via the Reception desk.
Do you have children’s bicycles?
Our bicycles are too large for children. Children’s bicycles are available to hire locally.
What time do you serve breakfast?
Breakfast is served from 7 am to 11 am every day; reservations are usually not necessary.
Do you have any information on the paintings and artwork in the hotel & restaurant?
Mr Mogford plans to update a catalogue of his extensive collection. He has another large interesting collection at our sister property, the Old Parsonage and Quod.
Is your hotel dog-friendly?
We welcome dogs on our terrace areas.
